Virginia L. (nee: Crabtree) (Blevins) Balash, age 88, a resident of Willoughby, passed away on Thursday, December 28, 2017.

She was born April 3, 1929 in Portsmouth, OH. Mrs. Balash was a nurse’s aide and activities director at Cuy-La Nursing Home before she retired. She was also involved with the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who enjoyed cooking, gardening, knitting, reading and crossword puzzles. She had a kind heart and always made you laugh and smile.

She is survived by her children, James, John (Peggy), Debbie (Olga),and Karen (Gere); grandchildren, Angelica, Jenny (Steve), Jeff (Heather), Darrell, Michael (Sarah), Stephen (Jonica), Corey (Gabby), Aaron, Joshua (Diana), Isaiah, Jason (Emily), Jessica (Mike) and John; great-grandchildren, Elliot, Spencer, Lincoln, Kaiya, Logan, Noah, Lucas, Neil, Abigail, Adam, David, Xana, Chase, Gia, Haylie and Kaitlyn.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, James Blevins and Leonard Balash. Her parents, Nola Crabtree and Arlene (nee: Matthews) (Crabtree) Adkins; stepfather, Russell Adkins and her siblings are also deceased.

Services will be at 7 PM on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Avenue, Willoughby. Chaplain Maria Bernardo will officiate at the service.

The family will receive friends from 3-7 PM on Tuesday, prior to the service at the funeral home.

Private family burial will be held at Willoughby Memorial Gardens.
