Gary Lee Brown 79 of Harrison passed away Friday, December 29, 2017 at Woodland Hospice and Morey Bereavement Center, Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. Gary was born May 19, 1938 in Clare, Michigan the son of Herbert and Viola (Krell) Brown. Gary graduated from Clare High School in 1957. Upon his graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country. Mr. Brown was united in marriage to Joyce I. Ross on February 17, 1979 at First Congregational Church, Harrison.
Mr. Brown retired from the Clare County Road Commission in 1998 after thirty five years of dedicated and loyal service. Gary enjoyed building and operating model trains, woodworking, yard work and watching televised games of the Detroit Tigers. He was known for his immaculate yard, organized garage and the only perfectly polished lawn tractor, yard tools and blade truck.
Surviving Gary is his wife of thirty-eight years, Mrs. Joyce I. Brown of Harrison, six children; Cindy Hale of Farwell, Michigan, Jeffrey Brown and wife Sheri of Clare, Rob Brown and wife Dee of Clare, Susan Dort and husband Steven of Port Clinton, Ohio, Gayle Giusso and husband Jim of Pottsboro, Texas and Karen Hulliberger and husband Nate of Harrison, fourteen grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and several extended family members and friends. Gary was preceded in death by his parents.
Celebration of Life services honoring Mr. Brown will be held Friday, January 5, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. from Stocking Funeral Home, Harrison with Mr. Reginald Hulliberger and Mr. Steven Dort officiating. A time of sharing and reflection will take place on Friday, January 5, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. until time of services. Inurnment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Harrison.
