Ronald Max  Spackman
Ronald Max Spackman, 86, of rural Port Matilda, died at Mount Nittany Medical Center on Wednesday, January 3, 2018. He was born on May 10, 1931, in Huston Twp., Centre Co., the only child of Ormsby and Helene Stiver Spackman. Ron graduated in 1949 from Port Matilda High School and attended Penn State University.
Ron went on to play minor-league baseball for the Philadelphia Phillies, before joining the US Air Force as a Senior Intelligence Operation Specialist. He was also a pitcher for the US Air Force and played throughout Europe.
He was stationed in Germany where he met his wife, Frieda Luley. They were married in 1954, and then returned to the United States.
Ron's career started at HRB Singer and later he worked for Locus Inc./Kaman from where he retired as Director of the Radio Frequency Development Group.
Ron was a member of Martha United Methodist Church.
Ron is survived by his wife, Frieda and his two daughters, Barbara Dietrich and Annette Gladys. He is also survived by his two sons-in-law, David Dietrich and Eugene Gladys, his four grandchildren, Joseph Dietrich, Petra Dietrich, Selina Gladys and Lukas Gladys.
All services are private and at the convenience of the family.
