Our friend Ryan...

In July of 2014 my wife Tammi and I were going to our first ever Shareholders meeting, we made the 6 hour drive from our home in MN, and we decided that we wanted to start an annual tradition. At that time I didn't have any tats, and my wife had a few and wanted more, so we decided we were going to start a tattoo tradition. We searched online and made a list of a few Green Bay shops to check out, on our way to check out one of the shops we stopped at the Harley Dealership and a guy there told us to check out one of two shops down the road on Velp, we stopped at one and didn't feel comfortable inside of it and they were booked out over a month, so we decided to drive down the road to another shop, which we drove right past as it was such a small little shop, one quick u-turn and we were back on track pulling into Unleashed Tattoo, we walked inside and WOW, metal music blaring, horror movie artwork everywhere, a scary moment for some I suppose, BUT, it felt like a tattoo shop, and there was this guy, covered in tats and wearing those lil wire rimmed glasses, swearing like a drunkin sailor, totally made us feel welcome and at home, we talked tats and unfortunately they only had one time spot open, which I let my wife have (I waited this long why not wait longer), but later on in our trip we got a call and they were going to fit us in after hours, so I could get a tat as well. While getting my tat we chatted like we were long lost friends and literally from that point on he called me brother. He told us "next year, save your money and stay with me up in Door County". I came back the following July by myself (for the Brett Favre ceremony) and stopped in the shop to get a quote on tattoos for the wife and I the following week during our annual shareholder trip, I figured he would've forgotten who I was, it had been nearly a year, but not Ryan, I walked in he stopped tattoing a guy and gave me a big hug, we chatted a bit and I set up the appt. for the following week. Tammi and I stopped in the shop the following week, that's when my wife got her nickname from Ryan, we laughed, and still laugh about it. Got our tats, same old long lost friend chat, then he chewed us out about staying in a hotel, that's when we decided to come back in August for a preseason Packers game, and stay at Ryans place. We came back a month later, he threw a BDay party for himself that weekend, we got tats again (I got a Packers tattoo, on Packers gameday, at a Green Bay tattoo shop. Ryan thought that was pretty cool, he hadn't done that before I guess). Had an awesome weekend, ate at an awesome place in Dykesville, went to a beach made up of Bay shells, and had "punk rock" ice cream made with a tractor at a Belgian festival in Brussels. Ryan loved chatting about his heritage and family, we all chatted for hours that weekend. After that we stayed in touch via text and phone. Then we came back in 2016, my wife finally got a long overdue cover up done, she told Ryan do whatever you want, and it looks amazing! We spent a night at his house that week, where I helped him set up shop in his basement tattoo parlor, I ended up getting a tattoo a day later, as the night ran pretty long at his house and by 3am I was ready for bed, not a tat, lol. Little did we know that week was going to be the last time we physically saw Ryan, we did chat and text a few times after, but then life happened, and sadly, various things kept all of us apart. He did give us some pieces of art work a couple years back, which we have had hanging in our house, we lovingly call it "Counard Corner", now that space has a different feeling to it, with the tragic news we just heard, we are in shock right now, and it hasn't fully set in it. Tammi and I are going to be at the service on Thursday, and we will be waiting for Ryan to come out and say "HA, gotcha f**kers!". You will be missed my friend, RIP bro
