Kay  Thomas
Janyth Kay Thomas, 70, of Everett, was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 4th, 2018 with her family at her side.

She was born Monday, May 5th, 1947 at her family home in Little Rock, Arkansas, a daughter of the late Max Merritt and Florence Ruby Lei (Downs) Clem.

She is survived by her daughter Lisa M. (Thomas) Shaw and husband Dale B. Shaw of Everett,
a grandson Jarrett T. Brantner of Everett,

Three sisters,
Marsha Helsel and husband Bruce Helsel of Williamsburg,
Norma White and husband Jay White of Bedford,
Maxine Sundstrom and husband Dennis Sundstrom of Michigan,

Three brothers,
Richard Merritt of Martinsburg,
Ken Merritt and wife Ana Merritt of El Paso, Texas,
Mark Merritt and wife Jeannie of Concord, North Carolina, and many loving cousins, nieces, nephews and their families.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in passing away by a sister Eileen Merritt and a brother Max Merritt, Jr.

Kay enjoyed attending Church with her friends at many different churches in the Everett area. She was a graduate of Everett Southern Joint High School, Class of 1965 and then worked at clerk at the former G.C. Murphy variety store in Everett.

Kay was then asked to come to work at the First National Bank (the Cardinal Bank) in Everett, where she was a bookkeeper and check processor. She then worked as a clerk at both Lowers Pharmacy in Everett and the Everett True Value hardware store. For the past 15 years, Kay was the “smiling face” who would greet you as she worked as a cashier at Zimmerman’s Hardware upper building in Everett.

She enjoyed reading and spending time at home, but also liked being with her family, friends and community. Once you met Kay, you were family to her and she will be remembered for her laughter, her smile, her kindness and always finding the good in everyone.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, January 13th, 2018 at Dalla Valle Funeral Service, Main Street, Everett with family and friends calling at the funeral home from 1:00 to 5:00 pm and sharing memories online at www.dallavalle-everett.com.

Private burial will be held by her family.
