Obituary for Dorothy M. Ladenburger

Dorothy M. Ladenburger
Dorothy Marie Ladenburger 84, died Monday, January 8, 2018 at the Logan County Hospital in Oakley Kansas. She was born January 13, 1933 in Angelus, Kansas, the daughter of Ben and Cathrine(Wessel) Albers. After graduating from high school in Grinnell, Dorothy met her husband, George Ladenburger, and they were married on October 23, 1950 in Angelus, Kansas.

She was preceded by her parents, Ben and Cathrine Albers; her 4 1/2 sisters, Martha Cox, Alvina Moos, Cecilia Esslinger, Eleanor Baalmann; and 3 sisters, Agnes Harrington, Georginia Davis, Pauline Albers; grandchildren, Chad and Scot Ladenburger.

Survivors are husband, George Ladenburger; and her children: Danny (Susan) Ladenburger; Randall (Tomaye Hipp) Ladenburger; Kenton (Diane) Ladenburger; Kellie (Bob) Day; Brad (Sharon Reyes) Ladenburger; and Melissa (Scott) Stephens; 18 grandchildren, and 24 great grandchildren.

Our Wife, Mother, Grandma and Great Grandma was the sweetest and most caring person. She enjoyed attending all their kids, grandkids and great grandkids events every chance they could go. Playing all sorts of card games with her was just what we did when we were at the farm. And how Dorothy would never let a birthday or anniversary card leave the house without a hand written letter in it. Dorothy spent her past time in the Daughters of Isabella, St. Catherine’s Circle of Oakley, Bridge club, making quilts for everyone, embroidering hand towels, collecting Christmas ornaments, cooking and baking all sorts of things, canning fruits and vegetables from her garden, and most of all spending time with her family and friends. Dorothy wouldn’t let us leave or say goodbye without her goodbye kiss and the sweet sound when she told us “I Love You!”

Visitation is 5-7:00 p.m. Friday, January 12, 2018 at Baalmann Mortuary, Oakley, with a Vigil at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 13, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Oakley with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
