Obituary for David Leigh Sharer

David Leigh Sharer, 71, of Centre Hall, passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at the Juniper Village at Brookline in State College. Born on January 19, 1946, in Bellefonte, he was the son of the late Jacob and Esther Wagner Sharer.
David was a 1963 graduate of Penns Valley Area High School and a 1965 graduate of the Williamsport Area Community College, earning an Associate Degree in Tool & Die. He was self-employed, owning Sharer Machine Shop. He worked in the shop until his health declined.
In his healthy years, David enjoyed flying his airplane, riding Wizer Bicycles, and tinkering around the farm and working in his shop. He loved to cut firewood in the mountains.
David is survived by his four children; Karen A. Thom and her husband, Chad, of Boalsburg, Wendy L. Splain and her husband, Billy, of Centre Hall, Matthew D. Sharer of Centre Hall, and Jodie D. Butler and her husband, Troy, of Bellefonte, six grandchildren; Rachel Hill, Madisyn Sharer, Lucas Sharer, Abigail Thom, Emily Thom, and Ty Butler.
Also surviving is his companion of 27 years, Mary Cox of Centre Hall, her daughter, Sherri Auman and her husband, Justin, of Julian, one brother, Jack Sharer and his wife, Shirley, of Centre Hall, and by his dog, Maggie.
Visitation will be on Thursday, January 11, 2018 from 6-8pm at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home in Centre Hall. Burial at Farmers’ Mills Union Cemetery will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Pets Come First, 2451 General Potter Hwy, Centre Hall, PA 16828.
