Betty Jane Girton, 86, passed away Thursday January 11, 2018 at Nottingham Village. She was born May 20, 1931 in Bloomsburg, a daughter of the late Clarence Thomas and Margaret (Fisher) Houseknecht.
She graduated from Bloomsburg High School class of 1949. Betty was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church Columbia Hill, West Hemlock Township. She enjoyed quilting, camping, gardening, and flowers.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents as well as her husband Chester M. Girton, daughter Julia who passed at birth, and brother Ray Thomas.
Betty is survived by four children; Ralph Girton wife Meral of Easton, PA, Deborah Bardo husband James of Bloomsburg, Brenda Woodside husband Lee of Danville, Linda Stine husband James of Bloomsburg, eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, brother Rusty Houseknecht and wife Karen, and sister Marion Roeder.
Services will be held Monday January 15, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Bunnell Funeral Home Inc., 179 E. Main St., Millville with her Pastor, Rev. Robert A. Kerchoff officiating. Burial will follow at Straub’s Cemetery.
