Condolences

Condolence From: Scott Whitham
Condolence: I didn’t spend a lot of time with Andy, but the few moments I shared with him over the years...as well as the countless stories I heard from his brother & niece...made me feel as if I’d always know him. ‘Uncle Andy’, as I’d always heard him referred to, was not unlike my own uncle. In fact, he reminded me so much of my mothers brother that I often confused stories about them in my head. Both were friendly, inquisitive & filled with a passion for knowledge. I could sit & talk (and often did) with Andy for quite a while. It was never dull. However, what I’ll probably best remember about him was his relentless optimism. Yes, he had his moments of self-doubt & frustration, but I never heard him say a cross word about another human being. This lesson alone is both humbling & important, and is something that Andy gifted to me by his mere presence. I can see Andy right now, smiling, sitting on the dock of his family cabin...content & happy. Judging no one. Just listening to the music of the loons.

Condolence: I always think of my Uncle Andy and his happy laugh. His face lit up when he smiled and it was impossible not to smile with him. There are so many stories and memories to share but the one I remember the most is when I was very young. My parents were away and I was staying with my grandmother and Uncle Andy. I missed my parents and was crying and he held my hand as he took me for a walk to console me. We took a long walk that day around Tanners Lake and it is one that I will always remember.

Condolence: Whenever we gaze at the nighttime sky, hear the cries of wolves and loons, enjoy the sun shining on lapping waves, appreciate the beauty of birds and flowers, Andy will be there also.
He will be greatly missed and always remembered.
