Elizabeth Russell
About 50 years ago, in the fall of 1968, I remember a pastor and his wife who came by the tracks to invite this family of nine to church services at Morningside Baptist. A few of us children came at first but I would remain and join. Later I would marry a member of that church, my present-day husband.
There were large crowds of people from all walks of life who came to hear what the meek man at the pulpit had to say from Gods' Word. He seemed to really believe what he preached. It caught my attention. Eventually my interest peeked and I found myself more in the Word of God, and eventually visiting and teaching Sunday school. This pastors' example of salt and light rubbed off.
Even today The Word of God resounds forward in my children and grandchildren as I see how small things like a mustard seed produces results from pastors who stay the course.
Years ago, a member named Russ Dooley, would stand on occasion during a testimonial night and say to the pastor and his wife these words, "You a good ole guy and you a good ole gal". Yes truth prevails.
Time may march on but memories are precious. Thank you, for the direction of godly leadership on this life and on my extended family. As events
have it, we will again meet past the tracks of this life. Yours in remembrance.
Elizabeth Russell
