Obituary for Ronald W. Bradshaw

Ronald W. Bradshaw, 58, Locke Road, Groton died unexpectedly January 15, 2018 at home, of natural causes.

Ron was born June 23, 1959 in Cortland, NY, a son of Virginia Shiels Bradshaw of Groton and the late William Bradshaw.

A lifelong resident of the Groton-Locke area, he graduated from Moravia Central School in 1977. He grew up with an aptitude for the concrete business, born from his father’s shared ownership of Cortland Ready-Mix. In 1986, he went to work for Vitale-Robinson Ready-Mix Concrete in Auburn, and later in Groton, until a disability forced his retirement in 2016.

Ron was an avid fan of auto racing, working and supporting his family team in various racing divisions. He also served as President of the CNY Mini-Sprint Association from 1994-1996. In his later years, he enjoyed collecting vintage race photos, building racecar models, and trading stories of racing memories.

He is survived by his wife, Laurie Durbin Bradshaw at home; a son, Geoffrey of Locke, his sister, Terry Bradshaw Compton of Rome, GA and two brothers, Martin of Charleston, SC and William of Groton. He also has a granddaughter, Jade Bradshaw, many nieces, nephews, cousins and his beloved cats and dog.

He was predeceased by his grandson, Blake Bradshaw, in 2012.

Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at the Groton American Legion, 307 Main Street, Groton from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m.
