We were so very saddened to hear that Mercedes passed away and felt a flood of emotions about our meeting her in Becket and learning that we too were from Long Island and both knew her father.
We will always treasure and remember how Mercedes helped and guided us on our lake projects and conservation issues over the years. Her tireless work and efforts to educate and encourage the hand pulling of weeds on Center Pond, her membership on the Conservation Commission, the Westfield River Wild and Scenic Advisory Committee and work with COLAP have done so much to assist the residents of Becket.
