Norma Ruth Briggs, age 79, of 1842 Rice Creek Road, Flag Pond passed away Friday, January 19, 2018 at her residence. She was a lifelong resident of Unicoi County and a daughter of the late Millard Harris and Emily Kathleen Harris Wilson. Norma was a member of Evergreen Freewill Baptist Church. She was a homemaker. Other than her parents she was preceded in death by an infant son, James Doyle Briggs; one granddaughter, Shania Lee Whitt; one brother, Harold Harris; one sister, Carolyn Lord.

Norma leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband of sixty-three years, Doyle Briggs;
two daughters: Lisa Whitt and husband, David of Mars Hill, NC, Darlene White and husband, Jonas of Erwin; one brother, J.M. Harris of Erwin; two sisters: Lois Miller and husband, Junior, Kathy Snyder all of North Augusta, SC; sister-in-law, Tootsie Harris of Erwin. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

The family of Norma Ruth Briggs will receive friends Tuesday, January 23, 2018 from 12:00 Noon until the hour of service at the Evergreen Freewill Baptist Church. Reverend Harold Lewis and Reverend Noah Taylor will officiate at the 2:00 P.M. funeral service. Music will be provided by David and Penny McNally, and Tabitha White. Pallbearers will be Billy White, T.J. White, David Briggs, Darrell Harris, Timmy Harris, Danny Miller, and Steve Miller. Interment will follow in the Upper Rice Creek Cemetery, Flag Pond.
