Obituary for Neal Hepburn Demskie

Neal Hepburn  Demskie
Neal Hepburn Demskie., 68 of Lewistown, completed his journey here on earth at his home, on January 17, 2018.
Born December 23, 1949 in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Melvin R. Hunt and Helen (Burkholder) Hunt.
Neal is survived by his wife, Nancy (Mowery) Demskie ; his children, Holli Barger of Granville; Douglas Demskie of Bel Air, MD; Michael Goss of Reading and 7 grandchildren.
He is also survived by his siblings, a brother, Dennis E. Hunt of Milroy; and his sisters, Judith M. Bubb and husband Butch of Reedsville and Traceye E. Mowery of Lewistown and 3 nieces.
Neal was a graduate of Kishacoquillas High School Class of 1967. He then enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was awarded Purple Heart and Bronze Medal of Honor during his time in Vietnam. During his war time,
He was a member of “Captain’s Gig” on the U.S.S. Kennedy.
He was a Quilts of Valor 2016 Recipient honoring his duties and service protecting our Country.
Neal was emploiyed at the U.S. Post Office and had been the Mattawana Postmaster.
He attended the New Life Church in Burnham.
Neal and Nancy were happily married for 21 years. They had a wonderful and happy marriage. They say 3rd time is the charm; Nancy was the charm of his life.
If you had spent time anytime with Neal, you were aware of his great passion for fishing. He spent countless hours fishing on the Juniata River. Sharing his love for fishing with his best friends and known as the better fisherman of the crew. Neal would graciously share his big catch with his fishing buddy of the day.
There are numerous pictures posted on social network of family and friends. He kept a memoir of those he loved through his love of collecting and taking pictures. You can find pictures of Neal’s fishing buddies holding his catch of the day.
He was a collector of coins, stamps and enormous number of clocks; as well as a skilled clock repairman.
He was a member of Loyal Order of the Moose, American Legion, VFW, Elks and Bryson’s stuff.
Born with a love for music, harmonic voice and self-taught musician. He spent leisure time with his fellow musician in garage bands having fun.
Please join his wife Nancy, family, and friends as Pastor John Walters, a friend of Neal’s, officiates a service at New Life Church, 108 N. Beech Street, Burnham, PA at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, January 27, 2018.

Memorial contributions in Neal’s memory can be made to St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 120 N. Main Street, Lewistown, PA 17044.
Funeral arrangements are under the care of the Barr Funeral Home and Crematory, 120 Logan Street, Lewistown, PA 17044.
