Obituary for Lula Odessa Seymour (Hall)

Lula Odessa Seymour (Hall)
Lula Hall Seymour, the oldest of three children born to the late James and Ollie Mason Hall, was born on April 7, 1940. Due to the early passing of her mother, Ollie Mason Hall, she and her siblings and eldest son, Gary, were reared by James and Maria Hall in Accomac, Virginia. Lula departed this life on Friday, January 19, 2018 at Heritage Hall in Nassawadox, Virginia.

Lula received her formal education in the public schools of Accomack County and she attended the Eastern Shore Community College.

Lula gave her life to Christ and joined Macedonia AME Church in Accomac. She served God and her church as a Trustee, Missionary, member of the Roberts and Wharton Club, and sang on the Senior Choir.

Lula worked for many years at Whispering Pines Motel and Perdue Farms. In her later years, she worked for the East Coast Migrant Program and Accomack County Public Schools. She also volunteered and participated in various community activities. She proudly displayed her plaque in her home that recognized her as an honorary member of President Barack Obama’s “Kitchen Cabinet.”

Lula was married to the late Samuel L. Seymour and they shared forty-six years of marriage. Sam and Lula shared their love with Keith, Victor, and Donnell, whom they reared. Lula was a gentle and quiet person with a loving heart and she will be missed by many.

Lula was preceded in death by her husband, son, Donnell Hall; and brother, Frank Hall.

She leaves to cherish fond memories: three sons, Gary (Marian) Hall of Geneva, Switzerland, Michael Keith (Angela) Hall of Charlotte, NC, and Victor Hall of Melfa, VA; two stepdaughters, Sandra (Keith) Lee of Philadelphia, PA and Dorothy Johnson of Dacula, GA; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert (Odelsie) Hall of Accomac, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
