Sunny Rullman died at home peacefully on January 20, 2018, in the loving company of her husband, James Kremers, and her children.
She was born January 23, 1930, in Omaha, Nebraska, of Louis Larvin and Sarah Van Emburgh Rich Rullman. She was baptized and confirmed at All Saints Episcopal Church in Omaha. "Sunny" was the name given her by her adoring Aunt Dede and Uncle Addison Wilson and adopted by family and friends thereafter, for the sunshine she brought to their lives. She attended Dundee Grade School and Brownell Hall (later Brown-Talbot Academy) in Omaha, and graduated from Pine Manor College, Wellesley, MA.
During a lifetime as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Sunny supported her family and friends in the pursuit of their dreams and helped them through life's many changes and challenges. Her kindness and gentle heart indeed touched many lives with sunshine. Active in the community after her arrival in Kenosha, WI, in 1956, Sunny served on the Altar Guild of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church and as a Sunday school teacher. She was a Girl Scout leader, a "hockey mom" for many years, and a volunteer at the Kenosha Historical Society and at the Kemper Center in its formative years. She was a gifted creator, from her early years as a painter to her later work with the decorative arts and floral design. She especially enjoyed gathering in her home with family and friends, to celebrate life, honor their special days, and to enjoy Lake Michigan together. Her love of water and the lake along which she lived for decades will endure in her family.
In 2003, Sunny and her high school sweetheart, Jim Kremers, decided that life was too short not to be spending the rest of theirs together. They were married in Kenosha, WI, at Kemper Center and settled near the harbor. Their life was enriched by their families and friends, travels, activities of the Kenosha Yacht Club, and their church.
She is survived by her husband Jim (James H.) Kremers; daughter Nina C. (Christopher Dadian) Davis of St. Louis, MO and Orland, ME; and sons David W. Davis Jr. of Mazomanie, WI; John W. (Mary Walker) Davis of Ypsilanti, MI; James O. (Carrie Schultz) Davis of Naperville, IL; and by ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her former husbands, Dr. David W. Davis; Dr. Edwin H. Barnes; and Mr. James. E. Kammith.
In lieu of flowers, most appreciated would be acts of help and love to others in need. Those wishing to do so may contribute to Women and Children's Horizons or Hospice Alliance-Kenosha.
A visitation will be held for Sunny at Proko Funeral Home Saturday, January 27th, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
