Obituary for Lois Goin

Lois Goin
Lois Goin, 87, slipped into the arms of Jesus very early Sunday morning, January 21, 2018. Born June 20, 1930, in Waldo, Arkansas, Lois devoted her life to her Lord, her family and others. She was a member of Spring Branch Church of the Nazarene (SBN), now Living Word Nazarene, for 56 years. After raising her own children, she worked at SBN’s New Life Learning Center for 25 years. Her work with small children and their families was more of a ministry than a job, with many of those families ultimately attending the church because of her influence. After retiring, she worked a couple of days per week at another church sponsored Mother’s Day Out. She had a heart for missions, serving on the Missionary Council for years and making a number of international Work & Witness trips. She also served mission efforts closer to home, cooking for the Concrete Christians for many years.

Lois met her husband of over 49 years, Rowland, when as teenagers, they both worked at the Steak N Shake in Peoria, Illinois. They moved to Houston in 1953 where they raised their two wonderful children and proudly watched their family expand to include Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren.

Lois is preceded in death by her parents, Jeff and Hadassah Chamlee, her beloved husband, Rowland, and her son-in-law, Ray Murphy. She is survived by her Daughter, Sandy Murphy, and her son and daughter-in-law, Buddy & Marty Goin. She also leaves behind Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren Raymond, Brittany, Andrew (Alisha) and AJ Murphy; Rowland (Rachael), Dillon, Allison, and Jake Murphy, Jason (Robin), Ashley, and Zach Goin; Niki (Doug) and Grayson Connor; Mason (Angela), Alex and Alyssa Pokladnik, as well as many beloved nephews and nieces and other extended family and a host of treasured friends.

Visitation will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, January 24, 2018, at Living Word Church of the Nazarene, 16607 Clay Road, Houston, Texas, 77084. A Celebration of Life service for Lois will follow immediately at the Church. Interment will be at the Woodlawn Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Pallbearers for the Service are Rowland Murphy, Dillon Murphy, Jake Murphy, Jason Goin, Zach Goin and Mason Pokladnik. Honorary Pallbearers are Doug Connor, Grayson Connor, Alex Pokladnik and Karl Erickson.

Anyone wishing to make a contribution in Lois’ honor may make it to the World Evangelism Fund, Living Word Church of the Nazarene, 16607 Clay Rd, Houston, TX, 77084.
