Obituary for Susan Joan Newswanger

Susan J, Newswanger, 58, of New Holland passed away at home on Sunday, January 21, 2018 following a lengthy illness.
She was married 18 years to Penell R. Newswanger. Born in Darby, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Margaret Foy Schriver.
Susan last worked in Patient Registration at Women’s and Babies Hospital in Lancaster. She was a graduate of Cardinal O’Hara High School in Springfield, and a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in New Holland.
She enjoyed going to the beach in Sea Isle City, NJ and was an avid Philadelphia Flyers fan.
Surviving besides her husband are two sons, Matthew Hegarty companion of Bryanna Palmer of New Holland, and Michael Hegarty of New Holland; a daughter, Rebecca Hegarty of Pittsburgh; a granddaughter, Zoey Hegarty; two step daughters, Crystal wife of Keith Martin of Narvon, and Andrea wife of Mile Martin of New Holland; four step grandchildren, Colton, Hailee, Zane and Kenley Martin; a brother, Robert husband of Mary Ann Schriver of Media; and a sister, Nancy O’Donnell of Blountsville, AL.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 26, at 1:00 P.M. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 150 Water Street, New Holland, PA with the Rev. Walter Guzman as Celebrant. In lieu of flowers, contribution in Mrs. Newswanger’s memory may be made to ALS Association of Philadelphia, 321 Norristown Road #260, Ambler, PA 19002 or to Homeland At Home, 2300 Vartan Way, Suite 270, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
