Obituary for Joseph F. Owers Sr.

Joseph F.  Owers Sr.
Joseph F. Owers, Sr., age 89 of Milford, beloved husband of the late Kathleen Moran Owers, passed away January 23, 2018 at Milford Hospital. Joseph was born in Brooklyn, NY, March 20, 1928 and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He later worked as a chemist and financial analyst for Stauffer Chemical Company of New York. He was a longtime member of the American Legion Post 196 of Milford, and a longtime parishioner and usher of St. Agnes Church of Milford. He is survived by his sons Joseph and Edward Owers both of Milford, his daughter Kathy Rose of Milford, his grandchildren Avery Owers of Colorado, Brett Owers of Milford, and Danielle Frank and her husband Bryan of Wallingford, his great grandchildren Briley, Delaney, and Ethan Frank. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Besides his beloved wife Kathleen, he was predeceased by his brothers Edward and Gerard Owers, and his sister Margaret O’Brien. Calling hours will be held Saturday January 27th, 2018 from 12pm to 4pm at Smith Funeral Home, 135 N. Broad St., Milford. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675, or to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
