Obituary for Dorothy Mae Ingraham

Dorothy Mae  Ingraham
Dorothy Mae (Lydon) Ingraham, 83, of Millis, beloved wife of Howard Ingraham, died
peacefully Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at Walpole Healthcare in Walpole.

Dorothy was born in Boston on May 21, 1934, the daughter of the late John and Cecilia
(Ready) Lydon. She was a 1952 graduate of Newton High School and attended UMass
Amherst.

Dorothy grew up in Newton, MA, and stayed in close contact with many of her high
school classmates, “The Newton Girls,” throughout her life. She was a resident of Millis
for more than 60 years. She worked for many years at the Herman Shoe Company in
Millis. She was also an award-winning Avon saleswoman. Dorothy’s skill in knitting was
well-known, as her creations, most notably her Christmas stockings, can be found
around Millis to this day.

Dorothy will be remembered for her boundless energy; she could always be seen
walking around town. She loved gardening, baking and reading. She was a kind,
loving, caring and supportive wife, mother, Nana, sister, aunt and friend. She will be
greatly missed by all.

Dorothy is survived by her husband Howard of Millis; her son Howard J. of Millis; her
daughter Sally J. Mokan and husband Larry of Alden, NY; her son Thomas P. and wife
Amanda of Millis; her daughter Patricia E. Cole and husband John of Atkinson, NH; her
sister Sally Carvalho of Medway, MA; and brother Thomas Lydon and wife Eunice of
Blackstone, MA, She is also survived by nine grandchildren: Richard Mokan and his
wife Rachel; Kaitlin Ingraham and her fiancé Emma Dixie; JJ Mokan, Amy Ingraham,
Allison Cole, Jessica Mokan, Sarah Cole, Jack Ingraham, and Macy Ingraham. In
addition, Dorothy is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be Friday, February 2, 2018 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Roberts Mitchell
Caruso Funeral Home, 90 Curve Street, Millis MA. A private burial will be at a later
date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Dorothy’s name can be made to The
Make-A-Wish Foundation at Wish.org or Make-A-Wish America, Gift Processing,
