Obituary for Mary Maxine Mitchell

Mary Maxine  Mitchell
Maxine Mitchell, 94, died on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 in Glencoe Oklahoma. Her funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at the Glencoe United Methodist Church in Glencoe, Oklahoma. Don Brown and Ralph Wangler will be officiating. Interment will follow at the Glencoe South Cemetery. Strode Funeral home, Stillwater, Oklahoma is in charge of the arrangements.
Maxine was born on January 29, 1924 to Vannah Douglas and Verna Kerby Harris in Yale, OK.
She married Wilbur Mitchell on February 3, 1946 in Glencoe, OK. He later died on November 3, 1997.
She graduated from Glencoe High School in 1941. During World War II she was one of the many “Rosie the Riveter’s”. She later became a Homemaker and worked alongside her husband on the family farm and for several years worked in the local grocery. After retirement, she enjoyed camping with family and friends and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; five brothers: Harold, Miron, Wayne, Dale and Lorn Harris.
She is survived by her son Gary Mitchell; daughters Sandra Mitchell and Susan Beavers; Grandchildren Heather (Cory) Donovan; Colby (Holly) Mitchell; Tessa (Chris) Jones, Sarah (Dalton) Ross; great- grandchildren: Kaeden and Kane Donovan; Mya and Ava Mitchell; Nola, Parker, Stoney and Rebel Jo Ross; brother Keith (Hopper) Harris; sisters Arlene Smales; Nadeen Barrett; Brother-in-law Ed Paxton; sister-in-laws Mary Jane Mitchell, Gloria Mitchell, Ilona Mitchell and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Glencoe United Methodist Church in memory of Maxine Mitchell.
