Ava Brightwell, 95, of Spring Hill, KS passed away Feb. 1, 2018 at Olathe Medical Center., Olathe, KS. Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Sat., Feb. 3, 2018 at Bruce Funeral Home, Spring Hill, KS (913) 856-7111. Funeral will immediately follow at 11 a.m. Cremation following the services. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Osawatomie. Condolences may be left at www.brucefuneralhome.com

Ava was born Nov. 24, 1922 in Locust Grove, Arkansas to Dewey Hebert and Thelma Hazel (Massey) Allen. She grew up in Arkansas and married Bobby H. Brightwell in Newport, Arkansas 63 years ago. They moved to California and then to Olathe in 1978. They moved to Spring Hill, KS five years ago Ava was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking and loved visiting the casinos. Ava’s family was everything to her. She will be dearly missed by family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Sandra K. Chase; and siblings, Dean, Vernice, Louise, Dick and Nell. Ava is survived by her husband, Bobby; children: Rick Brightwell, Euless, TX, Ron (Sonya) Brightwell, Osawatomie, KS, Randy Steven Brightwell, Spring Hill, KS and Robyn (Jeff) Reynolds, Olathe, KS; siblings, Judy Lewis, Batesville, AR, Tom Allen, Batesville, AR and Doris Ballard, Erie, KS; seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
