Obituary for Mafalda D. Summers (Dominello)

Mafalda D. Summers, 97, wife of the late Michael Summers, died on Wednesday, January 31, 2018. Born in Meriden on July 15, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Salvatore P. and Theresa (Barillaro) Dominello. She had resided in Meriden for her entire life, attended local schools and was a graduate of Meriden High School. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. She loved to spend time with her family.
She is survived by one brother, Matthew C. Dominello, Sr. and one brother-in-law, Virgilio Canalia; several nieces, nephews and cousins and a daughter-in-law, Liz Summers. She was predeceased by a son, Christopher Summers and14 brothers and sisters including George C. Dominello, Sr., Vincent T. Dominello, Yolanda Canalia, Salvatore J. Dominello, Lucile Dominello and Gloria A. Dominello.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 5, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main St., Meriden. A private burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday prior to the service from 5 to 6:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to St. Jude Children Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 109 Goodwill Ave., Meriden, CT 06450.
