Obituary for DesiMarie Lucille "Desi" Anderson

DesiMarie Lucille "Desi" Anderson
DesiMarie Lucile Anderson, age 23, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away as the result of a traffic accident on Wednesday, January 31, 2018, and returned to her Heavenly home.

Desi was the daughter of Eldon V. and Penny L. (Potter) Anderson of Waynesboro, PA. Born January 2, 1995 in Sofia, Bulgaria, Desi spent her early childhood years there and in Würzburg, Germany. In 2005 her family settled in Waynesboro, where she went on to attend Mowrey Elementary and Waynesboro Area Middle and High Schools. She completed her education at the Franklin Learning Center in Chambersburg, from which she graduated in 2016.

Desi was employed as a Service Associate by Giant Foods on Norland Avenue in Chambersburg for the past two years, where she was loved by customers and coworkers alike.

Some of Desi’s favorite activities included singing, dancing, shopping, playing video and board games, visiting amusement parks, finding painted rocks, and participating in volunteer community service at various organizations during her life. She loved animals and was a natural with children. Her childhood enjoyment of the “punch-bug” game evolved into a fascination with the VW Beetle as she grew older.

Desi had a curious mind, an infectious smile, and a gift for making others laugh. Her repertoire of silly faces and movie quotes were guaranteed to brighten the day of those around her. Desi was described by many who knew her as sweet, friendly, happy, a joy to be around, a unique individual, and a truly special spirit. She was kind, helpful, loving, full of life and energy, and will be dearly missed.

In addition to her parents, Desi is survived by her grandmothers, Lucile Anderson of Bountiful, UT and Irene Potter of Wenatchee, WA; four siblings, Nathaniel (wife Stefani), Joseph (wife Audrey), Andrew, and Cecilia Anderson, and seven nieces and nephews, Lukas, Emili, Jakob, Heidi, Sadie, Elijah, and Eleanor, all of Waynesboro; caregivers, Amanda “Pip” and Ian Downin and their children, Phoebe and Preston, all of Chambersburg; her special friend, Dylan Peterson of Mercersburg; and the extended Anderson and Downin families.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 10, 2018, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 11887 Mentzer Gap Road, Waynesboro. Immediately after the service, a light luncheon and opportunity for guests to share favorite memories of Desi will be held in the church cultural hall. Burial will follow at Fairfield Union Cemetery in Fairfield, PA.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Friday, February 9 in the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, as well as one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday morning.

Those who will be in attendance are encouraged to wear colors that make them happy, as that would make Desi happy.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to One Heart Bulgaria, which provides for the critical needs of Bulgarian orphans, at http://www.oneheart-bg.org/.
