Obituary for Raymond N. "Mickey" Letendre

Print
Loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather

Raymond N. “Mickey” Letendre, of Marlboro, died peacefully on February 3, 2018, in Marlboro, surrounded by his loving family, aged 95 years. He was the beloved husband of Marie (Lesieur) Letendre, with whom he shared 67 years of marriage.

Born in Marlboro, a son of the late Rudolph L. and Orise C. (Marchand) Letendre. He received his education in the Spencer, MA school system.

For several years, he worked at Schutney Shoe factory in Hudson, Diamond Shoe factory in Marlboro, and City Taxi. Later, he was employed at A&M Aeronautics Engineering as a Manufacturing Supervisor, retiring in 1992 after 31 years of service.

In 1948, Mickey also worked part time at Lesieur Moving Company, where a lovely young woman (who just happened to be the boss' daughter...) took notice of his boyish good looks and charming personality. They married on August 20, 1950, and began a 67-year journey of love and devotion.

Mickey was an avid candlepin bowler in his younger years. He loved the ocean, and always reminisced about the many vacations he took to Cape Cod with his young family. His favorite pastime was watching his beloved Red Sox. Most of all, he adored spending time with his kids, extended family, and friends.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Joanne Schulte of Marlboro, and Jean Fish and her husband Daniel of Hopedale; four sons, Michael Letendre of Marlboro, Richard "Dick" Letendre of Gorham, ME, James "Jimmy" Letendre of Marlboro, and Gary Letendre of Hopedale; 15 grandchildren, Michelle, Ericka, Julie, Courtney, Mollie, Emily, Lee-Anne, Niki, Alexandra, David, Matt, Eric, Adam, Chris, and Joe; eight great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Also a sister-in-law, Dorothy Horton of Orlando, FL, and a brother-in-law, Joseph Lesieur or Colrain, MA. He was the brother of the late Jeannette Busch, Alcide, Ronald, and Rudolph Letendre, and brother-in-law of the late Francis Busch, Georgette, Mary, and Claire Letendre.

Friends will be received at the SLATTERY FUNERAL HOME, 40 Pleasant Street, Marlboro, on Saturday from 2 until 4:45 PM, followed by his Funeral Service at 5 PM. Interment is private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in his name may be made to the Marlboro Hills Activity Fund, 121 Northborough Road East, Marlboro, MA 01752.
