Obituary for Mr. Marvis Terril Simon

The sun rose on the life of Mr. Marvis Terril Simon on December 20, 1977 in Denver, Colorado when he was born to Warren Stanley and Clara T. White. The oldest of four children, Marvis had three sisters, Kyla, Angela and Deanna. A happy child, he always followed Kyla and the pair constantly got into trouble together. She remembers when she convinced him to climb a tree to the top. When he couldn’t get back down, she had to get their mother to help him and they both got into trouble. Educated in the public school system, Marvis graduated from South High School.

On May 9, 2008, Marvis was united in marriage with Angela Laws whom he met at Kyla’s house. A favorite memory of the marriage were the annual trips to the Winter Park Jazz Festival with friends. To this union was born one child, Jayonna. Additionally, he was the loving father of Journey, Jeremiah and Janazia. The children remember he always let them climb all over him and was lots of fun.

A man of faith, Marvis was a member of Union Baptist Church for his whole life. He worked as a laborer in the warehouse industry. Marvis was known as a hard worker who was very quiet. In his free time, he enjoyed family, friends and watching sports. His favorite football team was the Green Bay Packers. And this big teddy bear could get very loud when rooting them on! His best friend, Derrick West and close cousins, DeJuan and Spank loved Marvis’ loyalty and friendship. They were very close and did everything together. Marvis’ favorite colors were green and yellow and he enjoyed listening to rap, hip hop, old school and jazz music. His love for his family, joy, laughter and ability to make everyone happy will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to have shared a part of Marvis’ life.

The sun set on the life of Mr. Marvis Terril Simon on January 29, 2018 when the Lord called him home to eternal rest. He is preceded in death by his father and sister, Angela. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Angela Laws; daughters, Journey Simon and Jayonna Simon; mother, Clara Simon; stepson, Jeremiah Laws; step-daughter, Janella Laws, all of Denver, CO; sisters, Kyla Simon (Eddie Woods) of Aurora, CO and Deanna White of Denver, CO; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
