Hugh Estel "Peck"  Eubanks
Hugh Estel “Peck” Eubanks, 83, of Fort Gibson, stepped on the streets of Heaven, Thursday, February 8, 2018. He was born May 14, 1934 to Waitie J. “Buck” Eubanks and Bonnie Jane (Raines) Eubanks in a dug-out on the bank of the Bayou. Most of his schooling was in Fort Gibson. He did go to Bald Hill near Tahlequah in 3rd and 4th grades.

Peck joined the Navy in 1954, he was 20 years old. He served on the USS Yorktown, finishing up on the USS Kersarge. After four years in the Navy, he returned home to Fort Gibson where he met and married the love of his life, Louise Staton. They were married August 20, 1959, and had two children.

Peck roofed for Lakeland Roofing for over 15 years. He then custom bailed hay for over 30 years. He loved to fly fish every chance he got. Peck and Louise enjoyed going to Blue Grass shows all around the area; and especially enjoyed his grandchildren and watching Tisha rodeo, Tyeler play ball, and Leah with her recitals and singing. Later playing with his great-granddaughters, Miriam and Naomi Burress.

Peck was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Charles; and three sisters, Oma Lee, Edna, and Hazel. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Louise; daughter, Marlene Burress and husband, Tony; son, Hugh Edward Eubanks and wife, Cherie, all of Muskogee; three grandchildren, Tisha Burress, Tyeler Burress and wife, Rebekah, Leah (Eubanks) Brownell and husband, Cade; two great-granddaughters, Miriam and Naomi Burress; brother, Ronnie Eubanks and wife Karen; brothers-in-law, Mike Curry and Pete Aikin; numerous other relatives and friends.

Viewing will be held Sunday, February 11, from 12:00 noon to 7:00 pm and Monday, February 12, from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm at Lescher-Millsap Funeral Home in Fort Gibson.

Services for Peck will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at the First Baptist Church in Fort Gibson with Reverend Danny Barks officiating. Nephews: Brent Eubanks, Rhett Eubanks, Reagan Eubanks, Grady Perryman, Kelly Staton, and Tommy Staton will service as Pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be his breakfast friends at Sticks Four Mile Stop. Burial will be in Fort Gibson National Cemetery under the direction of Lescher-Millsap Funeral Service of Fort Gibson.
