Obituary for Gloria Myrl Sanders
Gloria was born in Mt. Angel the second of 4 children to Ed Hougham and Marie (Kronberg). She attended Mt Angel Academy.
She completed Salem Business College and served 3 years in the Naval Reserve. She lived in the Salem area where she worked 43 years for the State of Oregon; retiring in 1989 from the Dept. of Veterans' Affairs.
Gloria enjoyed traveling, swimming, sports, gardening and spending time with family, friends and neighbors. She volunteered at the Keizer Senior Center, Salem Hospital and St Edwards Catholic Church. She found joy by involving herself in various service activities and visiting the elderly.
In the last few years she especially enjoyed her time with McNary Estates residents and the McDonald's Retired Coffee Clutch Clan. (And an occasional trip to Spirit Mountain Casino.)
Gloria is survived by her 2 children, Jeff Sanders and Cindy Sanders, a sister, Dolores Johnsrud, 4 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
In lieu of flowers, consider a donation in her name to her church, Union Gospel Mission, or St Vincent DePaul food pantry--or your favorite charity! Thank you! Perhaps volunteer some of your time to something you believe in?
Celebration of Life and Memorial to be held Friday, Feb 16, 2018 at St. Edwards Catholic church on River Road in Keizer. 1:30pm (Mass) followed by a Reception in the cafeteria/hall about 2:30. Please join us to connect and wish her well on her next journey! (Private entombment at City View.)
