Gregory Monroe Austin, age 56, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born January 10, 1962, son of Reba Walker Austin of Granite Falls and the late Monroe Austin.

He was an employee of R &L Motors and was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Austin enjoyed car racing at Hickory Motor Speedway and spending time with his grandbabies.

In addition to his father, he is also preceded in death by a sister Mary Austin.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Marche Starnes Austin of the home, four sons, Ryan Austin of Claremont, Joshua Hodges and wife Trista of Granite Falls, Joseph Hodges and wife Carrie of Granite Falls, Justin Austin of Granite Falls and a daughter; Jessica Kelley and husband Eric of Lenoir. Also surviving is a brother Billy Austin of Granite Falls. Mr. Austin leaves behind eleven grandchildren; Chloe Lowrance, Dalton Lowrance, Alexis Jaynes, Hunter Drum, Jesse Braswell, Cameron Kelley, Lacie Hodges, Colton Hodges, Aubrea Hodges, Payton Hodges and Brayden Austin as well as two nieces, Kimberly Austin and Nakesha Green-Bolick.

Visitation will take place Thursday, February 15, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Mackie Funeral Home.

Burial will be private.
