Obituary for Terence S. Gallagher

Terence “Terry” S. Gallagher, 81, of Holiday City Carefree section of Berkeley Twp., NJ, passed away Sunday, February 11, 2018 at home.
Born in Paterson, NJ, he lived in Pompton Lakes, NJ before moving to Berkeley Twp. 13 years ago.
Terry attended Don Bosco Prep in Ramsey, NJ for 3 years then graduated from Hawthorne High School. During his scholastic years, he was an All Star Basketball Player and continued to play collegiate basketball at William Paterson for 2 years.
He served in the United States Army from 1956 – 1958.
Terry was a Salesman for Stanley Levine in Boonton, NJ. Following his retirement, he worked as a Bartender at the Glen Rock Athletic Club for many years.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Hawthorne, NJ, the VFW, Bayville, NJ and served on the Glen Rock Athletic Club Board of Directors.
Terry was predeceased by his first wife, Eleanor, in 1987.
He is survived by his loving wife Bertha (nee Roberts) celebrating 21 years of marriage, two daughters Peggy Gallagher, Patti Zipfel and her husband Bob, three step daughters Tracy Grater and her husband Bill, Nancy Herner and her husband Art, Kelly Mele and her husband Ronnie, a brother John Gallagher and his wife Sue, three grandchildren Kira, Jillian, and Tyler, two great grandchildren Allie, and Gio and eight step grandchildren Megan, Will, Ben, Nicole, Stacey, Christy, Molly and Jaime and his niece Erin and her husband Tim.
The family will receive friends Wednesday 4-8pm at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 145 St. Catherine Blvd., Toms River. A funeral service will be offered Thursday 10:00am at the funeral home. Burial to follow at the New Jersey Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown, NJ.
