Condolence: The President, Executive members and the members of the Barbados Union of Teachers extend our deepest condolences on the passing of Mr. Trevor Hollingsworth.

We extend our prayers to the family members as they grieve at this time.

Condolence: Trevor was a good and decent human being with a charming smile. He will live on in the hearts of the people he touched.

Condolence:
Trevor and I were lifelong friends. We met in the 1970s when we were both very young and working at our first real jobs, at the radio station which was then called Barbados Rediffusion. I can still remember Trevor’s first day at work, when the Chief Operator, Clyde Clarke, brought him in and introduced him as a trainee for the position of Technical Operator.

Trevor was young and inexperienced and he looked it! He was a big, towering man, so he was head and shoulders above most of us, but he was quiet and a little shy.

He was a very fast learner. It rapidly became clear that with his ability, and his totally endearing personality, this Trainee Technical Operator would soon secure a permanent place on the staff of the radio station.
He worked tirelessly. He was creative, attentive and just plain competent. Trevor had the ability to multi-task at dizzying speeds, even in a busy and confusing environment. So whether he was working a shift that involved music, or interviews, call-in programs, news presentation, or outside broadcasts, he had the capacity to anticipate a problem and fix it, often before the listeners – or even the announcer – had a clue!

Trevor’s skill for editing was legendary. Even in the days of the old reel-to-reel tapes, which today are considered primitive, Trevor Hollingsworth (or Holly as we all called him) could edit an ‘s’ off the end of a word, or remove the rustle of paper from a sentence as though it had never been there.
He expected the same kind of focus and dedication from everyone who worked with him, even if we lacked his skill.

And he was not afraid to let us know if he felt we were slacking!

Trevor and I had great times working together in that old Rediffusion. It was extremely demanding and highly professional; and Trevor contributed hugely to the pride those young technical operators and radio announcers had in their work.

After that, our lives took different directions, but we always enjoyed reminiscing about those early years.
I was honored to work with Trevor Hollingsworth and to be his friend.

Condolence: Sending my condolences to the Hollingsworth family in these rought time from Ian archer and the Archer family.

Condolence: So sad hearing of Holly’s passing. Truly a gentle giant. Have great memories working with him at CANA in the 90’s. Prayers going up for his family.

Condolence: I am sad to hear about our Gentle Giant's passing. I hope that in due time your family receives God’s peace that excels all thought, so that it will guard your hearts and your mental powers. God is called the Father of tender mercies and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation. And so, trust that he cares for us and he would never bring us pain. A soothing scripture I like is Psalm 34:18 “Jehovah is near to those that are broken at heart, and those who are crushed in spirit he saves.” He promised that in the Paradise, we will have the prospect of enjoying life without end, free from all problems. Even our dead loved ones like Trevor will be resurrected. (Psalm 37:9, 29; Revelation 21:4) Until then, may you lean on God to give you the strength you need in the days ahead.

Condolence: Passing of a giant

When I left Barbados Rediffusion to help launch The Nation newspaper in 1973, Trevor Hollingsworth was a wet-behind-the-ears teenager eager to learn as much as he could about broadcasting.

I watched that gentle giant grow into a competent and dedicated professional admired and respected by all.

His name is on my list of outstanding technicians like Glyne Bryan, Clyde Clarke, Woolsley "Borky" Roach, Philmore Lewis, Vic Brewster, Larry Mayers, Anthony “Admiral” Nelson and Winston "Jack" Dear, who helped to make Barbados Rediffusion and its later iterations the professional and highly respected institution revered by thousands of Barbadians and others in the Caribbean.

I hope a suitable memorial has been set up to keep alive the contribution of those stalwarts.
