Obituary for Walter D. Carlin Jr.

Walter D.  Carlin Jr.
Walter D. Carlin, Jr., 93, of Coatesville died Sunday, February 18, 2018.
Born in Coatesville on October 31, 1924, he was the son of the late Walter D. and Mary Elizabeth Newlin Carlin.
He was the husband of Doris Underwood Carlin with whom he shared 72 years of marriage. Walter was a 1942 graduate of Unionville High School, and served as senior class president. He spent his working years building homes and farming, and was named FFA Star Farmer of the Northeastern U. S. in 1945.
Walter was a member of Doe Run Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder, Trustee, and sang tenor in the choir. He was active in his communities, serving as director of the Chester County Poultry Assoc., director and Vice President of the Brandywine Valley Assoc.; Vice President of the Brandywine Area School Board; and a Supervisor of East Fallowfield Twp. in the 1950’s and 1990’s.
Surviving him are his children, Mary Elizabeth Barth (Robert); John W. Carlin (Judy); Thomas J. Carlin (Karen); Robert D. Carlin (Kerri); and Rebecca C. Mountain (Kevin); two brothers, William G. and Richard D. Carlin; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Friday, February 23, 2018 at Doe Run Presbyterian Church, 3104 Doe Run Church Road, Coatesville. Relatives and friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, February 22, 2018 at the Harris Mountain Funeral & Cremation Service, 1030 E. Lincoln Highway, Coatesville and from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Friday, February 23, 2018 at Doe Run Presbyterian Church.
In his memory, contributions may be made to Doe Run Presbyterian Church at the above address.
Interment is private.
