Obituary for James Brent "Jim" Boyd

James Brent "Jim" Boyd
James Brent "Jim" Boyd of Wawanesa MB, passed away unexpectedly at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Sunday February 25, 2018 at the age of 58 years.

Jim was born in Morden, MB and raised on a family farm near Miami, MB. He attended and graduated from Miami Collegiate in 1977. During his school years he enjoyed playing sport with his favorites being hockey and baseball. In 1982, after taking time to think about his career choices, he went into Flight Services Specialist training. After graduating, he started in his first posting in Thompson, MB. Later that year he was transferred to Uranium City, SK where he met Goldie. They became soul mates and married in 1984. In 1987, their daughter Larissa was born. Jim embraced and loved everything about being a father. Jim and Larissa were buddies and where he went, she went.

Jim decided to broaden his career and in 1988 he entered the Air Traffic controller program, graduating in 1989. With a few moves in between, his career took him back to Winnipeg in 1991. The family decided to stay living on the small acreage near Wawanesa and Jim travelled back and forth to Winnipeg until his retirement in 2015. He loved living in the country and immensely enjoyed spending time with family and friends, hunting and travelling. His greatest pleasure was being with family and close friends whom he considered and treated as family. He gave of himself and his love generously. His passing has left a hole in many hearts and he will be greatly missed.

Jim leaves to mourn his passing his wife of 33 years Goldie (nee Monster), daughter Larissa Boyd & fiancée Andrew Nash of Morris MB, sister Lori (Paul) Patterson of Winkler and children Justin Bolton (Katherine Sand) & Chantel Bolton; brother-in-law Todd (Jenny) Monster & children Brady (Lisa) & Zachary; mother & father-in-law Mary & Charles Monster as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, great cousins & many friends.
Jim was predeceased by his parents Marion & James Boyd & by both sets of grandparents.

A Celebration of Jim's life will be held on Saturday March 3, 2018 at 1:30 pm in the Wawanesa Centennial Hall with Shirley McBurney officiating.
Friends that so desire, memorial donations can be made in Jim's memory to the Wawanesa Foundation, Box 178, Wawanesa MB R0K 2G0.
