Obituary for SMSGT Gaetano "Guy" A. Iannuzzo, USAF, Retired

Gaetano “Guy” Iannuzzo, SMSgt USAF, Ret, of Maynard, MA died peacefully February 26, 2018, 2018 at the E.N. Rogers Memorial VA Hospital in Bedford, MA. He was 94.

Born and raised in Maynard, he was the son of the late Leonardo and Catarina (Gaglio) Iannuzzo, and was a 1940 graduate of Maynard High School. Employed as a civilian at Hanscom Air Force Base in Bedford, his career as a flight engineer with the U.S. Air Force spanned over 39 years including active duty during WW II and Korea, and reserve duty during the Vietnam War. A lifelong resident of Maynard, he was a member of the Frank J. DeMars American Legion Post # 235, the Maynard Rod and Gun Club and the Maynard Knights of Columbus Council #2121. A lifetime member of St. Bridget’s Parish, he was also a member of the Massachusetts 4th Degree Edward F. McSweeney Assembly #400. Often called “Tut” by those who knew him the longest, he enjoyed tending his manicured lawn and abundant perennial border.

He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Schurman Iannuzzo of Maynard; his children Catherine Iannuzzo and her spouse Lisa Pearson of Boston, Jeannine Aylward and her husband Charles of Albuquerque NM, Leonard Iannuzzo and his wife Della of Sarasota, FL; his grandchildren Ian Pacy of Birmingham, AL, Ariane Pacy of Los Angeles, CA, Alexys Aylward of Albuquerque, NM; and great-grandchild Noah Pacy of Birmingham, AL.

Visiting hours are Thursday March 8th from 5:00-8:00pm at the Acton Funeral Home, 470 Massachusetts Ave (Rt 111) Acton. The funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday March 9th at 11:00am in St. Bridget’s Church, 1 Percival Street, Maynard. Burial with military honors will follow in Glenwood Cemetery, Great Road (Rt 117) Maynard.
