Ramon Alustiza, Jr. Bordentown

Ramon Alustiza, Jr., 97, died peacefully on Tuesday, February 27, 2018, while in residence at the New Jersey Veteran's Memorial Home, Vineland, N.J. Born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, Ramon was a longtime resident of the Bordentown community.

He began his military service with the Puerto Rican Army National Guard and enlisted in the U.S. Army Infantry in 1941. He was a W.W. II veteran and served his country until his retirement as a MSGT in 1962. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal three times and the Army Commendation Medal. Ramon was a proud parishioner of St. Mary's Roman Catholic church of Bordentown, he enjoyed carpentry, woodworking, and gardening. An avid cook, he delighted his friends and family with his culinary creations. His grandchildren were the light of his life.

He was the husband of the late Iraida Diaz Alustiza, and son of the late Ramon Alustiza and Maria Heredia. He was the brother of the late Raul Heredia. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Enid and Arthur J. Martin; son, Ramon E. Alustiza and life partner Kenneth Privett, Jr.; two sons and daughters-in-law: Esteban and Beverly Alustiza and Wilfredo and Cindy Alustiza; grandchildren, Deirdre and husband David W. Ryan, Candice and husband Ken Lee, Steven(Danny) and wife, Chrissy, Patricia Alustiza , Jason, Christopher, Austin, and Owen Alustiza: great-granddaughter, Jayden M. Ryan. He is also survived by his siblings, Vivian Alustiza Gratacos, Julio Alustiza (Margaret) and Jose Antonio Alustiza (Frances) of Ponce, Puerto Rico and many nieces and nephews. The family of Ramon remember and thank Linda Jackson for her wonderful care and attention. We also thank and acknowledge the Nursing and CNA Staff at the Veteran's Home for their consistent, dedicated and excellent care.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday March 17 2018 Noon at the Bordentown Home for Funerals. Calling will be held that morning from 11:00 am until the time of the service. Interment will follow at Bordentown Cemetery
