Charles Edward Rhynerson Sr, age 93, La Cygne, Kansas passed away on Sunday March 4, 2018 at his home near La Cygne. He was born on April 20, 1924 at La Cygne, the son of Frank Theodore Sr. and Nannie Mae Driskill Rhynerson. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He was deployed overseas after he married Ruth Smith on April 18, 1944. He was a Tactical Sergeant serving in the infantry. He was injured in the Battle of Cebu Island and earned a purple heart and a bronze star. After being discharged from the Army he worked in the International Union of Elevator Constructors for twenty-six years. He then ran his electric company, Charles Ed Electric, from 1974 to 2010. Charles was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church, American Legion, and Kansas Old Time Fiddlers and Pickers. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers: Lawrence, Ralph, Jim and Frank, a sister Ruth Bullock, an infant sister, Martha and a great grandchild. Charles is survived by his wife, Ruth, a son, Charles Rhynerson Jr and Deborah, two daughters; Beverly Smith and J. Ronald, and Barbara Rhynerson, a brother Oscar, three sisters: Wilma Stainbrook, Alice Rose and Pearl Scott, five grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and five great great grandchildren.


Funeral service will be 11 am Thursday, March 8, 2018 at the Calvary Baptist Church. Burial in the Star Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm Wednesday at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, La Cygne Chapel. the family suggests contributions to the American Lung Association or Mercy Hospice.
