Obituary for Jo

Lydia Jo Gibbs, 80, of Brady, joined her husband in heaven, early Sunday morning, March 11, 2018. Family will have friends, Tuesday, March 13, 2018 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Heritage Funeral Home. There will be a lunch for the family at 11:30 am at the Melvin United Methodist Church in Melvin, Texas on Wednesday, March 14, 2018. A funeral service will follow, starting at 2:00 pm in the Heritage Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, March 14, 2018. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donation be made to Hospice of San Angelo, P.O. Box 471, San Angelo, TX, 76902.

Lydia Jo Allcorn was born on July 26, 1937 to R.J. Allcorn and Robbie (Fletcher) Allcorn in Coleman, Texas. She went to school for a short period of time, before helping her family. She married the love of her life, Milton Dee Gibbs, in January of 1978. Together the raced horses and worked on a ranch South of Crane. She also owned a bar in San Angelo, Texas. She enjoyed to spend some of her spare time fishing and loved to go dancing anytime she had the chance. She also loved to drink cokes.

She was always a hard and reliable worker. She worked at the G. Rollie White Complex when the race track was there. She would clean the horse stalls and put the horses on the walkers. She was always the first person there in the mornings and the last person to leave. She was always the type of person that was determined to pay her own way in life. It was her way or the highway.

Surviving Lydia include her children, Roy Dean Farris and his wife, Penny, of Odessa, Troy Farris and his wife, Dorothy, of Belton, and Mary Milliken and husband, Joe, of Brady; sister, Bertha Smith of Brady; grandchildren, Gordon Farris, Rusty Farris, Lisa Kidd, Aaron Farris, Aleya Farris, Cody Thompson, Melanie Bulloch, and Mary K. Milliken; 13 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Milton Dee Gibbs; two sons; 4 grandchildren; and her parents, R.J. and Robbie Allcorn.
