ROBERT HENRY LASH
Robert H. Lash, 91, of Cass City, died Sunday, March 11, 2018 following a lengthy illness in Prestige Pointe of Grand Blanc. He was born April 11, 1926 in Elmwood to Chester Orion and Belle Zelle (Anker) Lash. He married Mary Jane May Magee March 5, 1947 in Royal Oak. She died July 4, 1988. He later married Donna Kathleen (Zapfe) Holm December 11, 1988 in Cass City. She died August 2, 1999. He married Audrey Vilas May 21, 2000. She died January 10, 2018.
Bob graduated from Clawson High School and in later years donated an airplane that he had built to the school. He worked for Consumers Power of Royal Oak as a mechanic and supervisor. During his employment, he invented the onboard power washers that are found on some of the utility trucks. Bob built experimental airplanes and propane powered cars. A two-time bronze star recipient, he served in the U.S. Army during WWII where he worked on tanks in the 748th Tank Battalion under General George S. Patton. He was a member of the Cass City VFW Post #3466.
Bob is survived by his daughter, Mary Anne (Harold) Brandenburg of Cass City; granddaughter, Melissia (Larry) Craig of Hadley; grandson, Michael Robert (Leslee) Brandenburg of Las Vegas, NV; Great grandchildren: Jenifer Craig, Lillian Brandenburg, Liam Brandenburg, Khalil Brandenburg; granddaughter in law, Tracy McComb-Brandenburg of Grand Blanc. He is preceded in death by infant daughter, Karen Lash; grandsons: Eric Brandenburg, Wayne Brandenburg; sister, Joyce Merryweather.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 16, 2018 in Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City with Brad Speirs of Novesta Church of Christ officiating. Interment will take place in Novesta Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association. Military honors conducted by Cass City VFW Post #3466 and the United States Army.
