Generosity
Bill and Arlene had only met me once, and somehow they noted my birthday through my Bulgarian friend who lived with them as an exchange student. Next thing I know, they sent me a birthday gift, which meant the world to me! After that, they kept consistently surprising me with their goodness, and enriched my life, and later my family's life with their kindness, humor, and genuine concern. When they were visiting Bulgaria, they traveled 2 hours out of their way just to visit my mom in a small village, who does not speak English, whom they had never met before, to show her support as they knew she was missing me, and so that my mom be assured I had the best friends in the US on whom I could always count. My mom starts crying every time she remembers their visit. Thankfully, they had a chance to meet again, here in Phoenix several years ago, and we had a wonderful time.
