Ian, I am very sad to hear of your passing. My earliest memories of you was when I would come over to Steve's house to hang out there and you would always be in your chair at the table in the corner of the kitchen. With your glass of drink in front of you, you would be mumbling and grumbling, I always assumed angrily, to anyone and everyone else in the room. I admit I found this unsettling and a little frightening but my dad liked the drink as well so I got it. I remember it being like that for a few years.
And, then, it wasn't. As us kids kept getting older you and Jennifer always made your home very welcoming for us. We had some fun in your backyard and you guys were very okay with the whole "the lawn chair and the fence" incident. I always appreciated that. I never knew the reasoning behind, what I always figured was a cutback in the booze which allowed us to see a much more fun and open guy. I never asked. But, I was always very happy and proud of you whenever I thought about it over the years.
I know you are and always will be missed by the boys and your kids and your loving wife. Your family has always held a special place in my heart for a very long time.
Lots of love,
jake
