JANET CAROL GUTHRIE,
72, of Cass City, died following a short illness Saturday, April 21, 2018 in Covenant Medical Center Harrison Campus, Saginaw. She was born May 16, 1945 in Saginaw to Jacob Fredrick and Ferndale (Yax) Schmitt. She married Paul Warren Guthrie October 12, 1963 in Reese. He passed away June 21, 1983.

Janet worked as a caregiver for Michelle’s House Adult Foster Care Home in Caro. She was always writing everything down, all the little details. Playing cards and trivia on her tablet where favorite past times. Janet enjoyed outdoor activities such as camping, gardening and watching birds. She was a die-hard Detroit Tigers fan. She especially loved spending time with her sis, “Jack” and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Janet was a former member of Gilford United Methodist Church and currently attended Novesta Church of Christ.

Janet is survived by her children: Dawn (John) Wilding of St. Charles; Roger Guthrie of Cass City; Brian Guthrie of St. Charles; Jadie Periso of Caro; Kim Periso of Cass City; 15 grandchildren,19 great grandchildren; sister, Jackie (Doyle) Bradley of Cass City; brothers: Cecil (Barbara) Schmitt of Reese; Marvin Schmitt of Sandusky; sisters-in-law: Bonnie Schmitt of Fairgrove; Sandy Schmitt of Bay City; daughter-in-law, Dawn Guthrie of Akron; many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her longtime companion, Jadis “Jadie” Edward Periso, Sr.; sons: Paul Guthrie, John Guthrie; grandson, Adam Wilding; great grandson, Corey Berryhill; an infant sister, Jane Schmitt; brothers: Lloyd Schmitt, Charles Schmitt, Eugene Schmitt, Phillip Schmitt, Milton Schmitt;
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 26, 2018 in Novesta Church of Christ, Cass City with Brad Speirs officiating. Pallbearers for Janet: Roger Guthrie, Brian Guthrie, Jadie Periso, Doyle Bradley, Corbin Ruth and Kaden Sherman. Memorials may be made to Family Discretionary Fund.
