Obituary for Doris Mary Rankin

Doris Mary  Rankin
Doris Mary Rankin, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on May 1, 2018. She was a resident of Fountain, Colorado for 47 years.

Doris was born on July 24, 1925 to Thomas and Loretta (Lozeau) McNamara in Lowell, Massachusetts. She served in the Women’s Army Corps from 1951-1956 and during the Korean War as a Medical Technician and Physical Therapist. It was during this time that Doris met her husband, Marvin. During her service in the Army, she earned the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. After marrying Marvin, she separated from the military to serve her country in a different capacity as Army Wife and devoted her life to her husband and children. At age 50, she graduated from Pikes Peak Community College with a degree as a Registered Nurse and worked in Geriatric Nursing for fifteen years.

Doris adored reading and crafting in her spare time, but her greatest joy was spending time with family.

Doris was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, Marvin. She is survived by her children: Marvin Rankin II (wife Dianna) and Arlene Seipel (husband Joe); her grandchildren: Andrew (wife Becky), Wesley (wife Beckie), Nathan (wife Ami), and Olivia; her great-grandchildren: Katherine, Violet, and Summer.

Services will be Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at St. Dominic Catholic Church, 5354 US Hwy 85-87, viewing is at 10 a.m., followed by a Mass at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Doris Rankin’s memory to Pikes Peak Hospice Foundation, 2550 Tenderfoot Hill Street, Colorado Springs, CO 80906.
