He grew up on the farm and graduated from high school in 1938. In 1939 he came to Stillwater to attend Oklahoma A and M College (OAMC). In the late spring of 1942, during World War II, he volunteered for the Navy. He served most of his tenure in the South Pacific islands all the way from New Caledonia to the southern Philippines. He began his career as a public accountant in his brother’s firm, G. Wilson Duncan Company, in Stillwater, serving clients until his retirement 2005, at age 85. He was an active member of the Stillwater Church of Christ, as a deacon for many years in building project leadership and outreach to international students. He owned and maintained rental properties, including two mobile home parks. His avocation, especially after retirement, was his farm on Brush Creek Road, from which the bountiful vegetable crops were distributed throughout the community.
