Condolence: My condolences to the family on your loss. One of Larry’s favorite phases was “Nicely done,”, and that certainly applies to his obit notice. My first job after college was with American Brass, where I met the man everyone referred to as “Ziggy” or “Doc”. He immediately dubbed me “Young Roy”, and the name stuck for all our years there. On our first project together, we spent three weeks on a roof top in Buffalo NY in April 1973 doing air emissions testing. Not the most ideal conditions to be outdoors, but he was always upbeat, positive, and kept it interesting. I will always remember the beat-up briefcase, the walking stick, the practice golf swings in the hallway, and all those crazy words he used that sent me to the dictionary to figure out what he said. I feel very fortunate to have known this true gentleman. Thanks for all the good times, Doc, I will remember them always! Roy

Condolence: After attending Larry's funeral, which captured the essence of his Ziggyness, including two of his unique, homemade walking sticks -- I remembered a classic example of what it was to be Dr. Lawrence Charles Ziggy Kenausis. He and I were walking to downtown Waterbury for lunch. Ken Kinsey who was the V.P. of Human Resources from Anaconda Brass happened to join us as we walked by the Anaconda Brass General Office on Meadow Street. We began a conversation about numismatics - coin collecting. Larry had an accumulation of Barber Head Nickles, which he was very proud of. His verbiage (a Larry word) indicated that he was very knowledgeable about the hobby. So, I asked him, "Ziggy are you a numismatist?" Without missing a beat he said,"Alas no, I'm a Lit-twain-inyen!" God Bless his quick responses and sense of humor!

Condolence: I remember the first time that I met Larry when I started at the R&T Center in August of 1966. While walking down the hallway on the 2nd floor, a fellow exited one of the offices, and he had a pencil protruding from each ear. Having been born and raised in NYC, I was not startled, and was attracted by his sense of humor. While Larry was involved with important development projects, and no doubt had a lot on his mind, he always had a pleasant and outgoing personality. He took the time to engage in "small talk" with everyone. May God bless you Larry, and may He provide peace to the Kenausis family.

Condolence: So sorry to hear about Ziggy's passing. I learned a lot from him -- how to creatively misspell when it counts, the fine art of banana label collection, what happens when you mix sodium and river water, and how to convince someone that you're not driving fast, it's just the noise Volkswagens make because they're air cooled. Somehow, I don't think he ever bought that last one. But most of all, I learned the importance of being a family that can laugh with each other. I'm glad I got to spend time with you all as we grew up and experience that. He'll be missed, but we'll carry the ball.

And hey -- he gave me my nickname. Can't beat that.

I will always remember your unique perspective on life, your Dracula teeth, your classic tool box, and your office sign regarding whether the doctor was in or not.

I hope you are enjoying the eternal golf course, and this time, unlike your tenure at Anaconda Research, you are playing with a real club and ball.

You will be missed, sorely missed, by many of us who had the honor of knowing you, working with you, and having you as a friend. You were a scholar and a gentleman, always asking that insightful, uncomfortable question that rattled one's argument.

As we Russians, in our tradition, wish at these times - may your memory be eternal -- you were and will continue to be a legend.
