He later studied at the Art Institute of Chicago. He was employed at Ken-Crete and Ladish Tri-Clover. He served in the U.S. Army from 1966 to1971. On August 9, 1984, Jerry was united in marriage to Patricia (Loney) Ruffolo. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Jerry enjoyed taking trips to Las Vegas to visit his son Scott. He was an avid sports fan, cheering for the Chicago Cubs and Green Bay Packers. He enjoyed going to car shows, the 7 Mile Fair, and golfing. His greatest love was spending time with his six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He had a great sense of humor and was a gifted story teller, as any of his grandchildren can attest to.
