The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Sharon Svoboda can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Obituary for Sharon Lee Svoboda

Sharon Lee  Svoboda
Sharon Lee Svoboda (nee Hoekzema) was born on April 7, 1934, in Grand Rapids, MI., and passed peacefully in the company of her husband, three sons, and eldest grandchild on May 17, 2018, in Naples, FL.

A Memorial Service is scheduled for June 2, 2018, 11:00 a.m., at Naples United Church of Christ.

She was a lifelong educator and earned a Master’s in Reading from the University of Maine. During her years in public schools she worked with all grade levels at several Maine school districts. She was an innovative educator and often served as an advisor for student groups and school publications. Sharon was active in music programs and community life of many churches. She enjoyed playing several instruments and singing. She was an inspiration to all who knew her. She will be dearly remembered by family, friends, and students. Sharon is survived by her husband, Rev. Gordon Svoboda, three sons and two daughters-in-law, eleven grandchildren, and fifteen great-grandchildren. Gordon and Sharon recently celebrated their 68th Wedding Anniversary. The family wishes to thank her many Care Givers.
