John Allen  Mentzer
John “Allen” Mentzer, 80, of Chambersburg, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at the Chambersburg Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

Born Wednesday, December 8, 1937 in Chambersburg, he was a son of the late Maurice B. and Martha E. Sollenberger Mentzer.

John retired in 1998 from the former Pet Ritz in Chambersburg. He enjoyed riding bicycles, watching Bible Prophecy programs, and loved fresh garden tomatoes.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Kay C. Statler Mentzer whom he married, October 7, 1961, one son, Perry (wife Tina) Mentzer, Greencastle; one daughter, Sandy (husband Kevin) Michael, Chambersburg; three grandchildren, Marshall (wife Cheyanne) Levi and Ruby Mentzer; four siblings, Kathryn Frey, Chambersburg, Lois Kipe, Aiken, SC, Sara Diller, Bigfork, MT, and M. Benjamin Mentzer, Duncannon, PA

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six sisters, Susan Witmer, Mary Wenger, Fannie Diller, Anna Keller, Alma Hock, and Marian Frey.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, with Pastor Delmas Hock officiating. Burial will be in Norland Cemetery. A viewing will be held Tuesday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday in the funeral home.
