Obituary for Donald Russell Nicholson

Donald Russell  Nicholson
Donald Russell Nicholson was born in Pathlow, SK on June 10, 1942, the third child of Knut and Isobel (Reid) Nicholson. He grew up in Pathlow while attending school in Melfort and later at the age of 10 moved to Birch Hills. He was an athletic student and very active in fastball and hockey. In later years he found his love for golf.

February 7, 1964 he married Paulette Nordstrom and they made their home in Melfort. There they had 3 wonderful children. As a family they enjoyed trips to Banff, Waskesiu and Candle Lake. He loved watching his kids excel in sports and coaching them along the way.

Don passed away peacefully at the age of 75 in the Melfort Union Hospital on Thursday May 24, 2018 with his family by his side.

He is survived by his loving wife Paulette Nicholson. His children: Angela Nicholson, her children Melissa (Matthew) and Megan; Darcy (Debbie) Nicholson, their children Brittiney (Tyler), Kyleen (Ryan), Michaela, Danton, Chantel, Brooklyn, Kendra, and Keaton; Leanne (Rodney) Paul, her children Emily and Brody; his three sisters: Rose (Bert) LaPointe, Annette (Bryan) Williamson, Diane Bjurman; two brothers: Ralph (Eileen), Larry (Marilyn); as well as 7 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents: Knut and Isobel Nicholson, his mother and father-in-law Ed and Margaret Nordstrom and brother-in-law Dennis Nordstrom.
