Obituary for Donald Earl Cummings
Donald E. Cummings, 70, passed away peacefully May 29, 2018 at St. Mary's Hospital, Richmond, Va. He was born December 9, 1947 to the late Earl and Margaret Cummings.
Donald was a special procedures x-ray technician at Norfolk General Hospital until he was drafted into the U. S. Army. His seven years of service included four years in South Korea. In 2009 Donald retired from Verizon Federal where he was the Program Manager for the Dulles and Reagan National Airport's Communications Systems.
After retirement, he moved to Edwardsville, Va. and pursued his many hobbies of playing with his granddaughters, gardening, crabbing and repairing broken items that he purchased at the scrap metal dump to give to those in need.
Donald was also an active member of the Northumberland County Rescue Squad.
He is survived by his wife, Donna; two step children, Christy Clayborne (Alan) and William Bounds, Jr. (Kim); two granddaughters, Ashley and Megan; a sister, Susan Harwell of Virginia Beach and four nieces. He was preceded in death by his brother, Stephen Cummings.
There will be a memorial mass at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Kilmarnock , 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 8, 2018.
