Francis Earl Bray of Reedville, Va., departed this life on June 2, 2018 at Greenfield of Fredericksburg Senior Living at 95 years of age. He was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Iris Walker Bray, on January 16,2018. He is survived by his two sons, Sonny Bray of Fredericksburg and his wife, Catherine, and William B. Bray of Colonial Heights and his wife, Virginia; sister-in-law Clara Bray of Reedville; brothers-in-law John Walker of Williamsburg, and Earl King of Village. He had three grandchildren, Tim Bray of Fredericksburg and wife Tracy, Adam Bray of Richmond and wife Erin, and Virginia (Gini) Bray of Chesterfield. He was an active member of Bethany United Methodist Church in Reedville and enjoyed a quiet life with his family. He was a Marine veteran who fought on Iwo Jima in WWII. After returning home from the war he worked as an electrician with his father, Ennis Bray, and brother Robert “Bobby” Bray in Lilian. He began a TV repair business that transitioned to a communication and electronics repair business for the menhaden fishing fleet and first responders. Services will be held Wednesday, June 6, 2018, at Bethany United Methodist Church in Reedville beginning with a visitation at 1:00 pm and service at 2:00 pm. He will be buried in Roseland cemetery in Reedville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bethany United Methodist Church, PO Box 77, Reedville, VA 22539.
